Save the bookshelves

I woke up today, as happy as a clam, thinking that I'll get some serious reading done now that the weekend finally came. I stretched and bounded off the bed--only to step on a pile of books and accidentally kick the iPad 2 near it. Startled, I righted myself and looked around--to realize in horror that my bookshelves are now filled to the brim, and books litter my desk, floor, and chairs.

Instead of ignoring the mess, I decided to right the wrongs and cover the books that most needed tender loving care. I came up with a pile of to-cover books, only to realize that I don't have anywhere to put them in. So while it tears my heart, I abandoned the covering mission and decided which books will be kept, and which ones will be discarded. I stood in front of my bookshelves and passed judgement on my books and came up with a fat pile. But then I realized that the job is half-done, as I have been neglecting to clean up the bookshelves I hid from sight.

My pile of to-be-organized books

A closer book at the mess

Now my to-be-sold pile grew to at least two dozens, with Ann Brashares's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants bagging the first series to be discarded. It is shortly joined by The Secret Series by Pseudonymous Bosch, and a couple of books by Diana Wynne Jones. I loved these titles, I really did, but I have to let them go to make room for future purchases.

An Epic Weekend: Laiya plus other side adventures

A five-minute drive to the resort.  Our official "lunch" place

Cheerio! I just got back from the beach with my awesome and crazy friends.  This was a weekend firsts for me:

  1. Drove 140km/h
  2. Drove out of town on a longggg trip (Burned 320km on my car's mileage)
  3. Had my car break down on the last leg of the first journey (a burning smell took over my car when I went on 140km/h. Turns out my itsy bitsy Minxie isn't built for speed AND passengers, so I had to boot a friend so I can go faster)
  4. Went snorkeling (and drank lots of salt water)
  5. Admitted my favorite element (Oh no, I'm not putting that one in here)
  6. Was forced to "dance" (and I'm using the term loosely in this sentence. No alcohol was induced, mind you, which makes it more embarrassing for me)
  7. Followed my GPS and my heart (because I wanted to buy my mom some tarts), only to have the app lead me to an entirely different route, one that took me to a long and winding road.  I just wanted to go to Tagaytay, and I found myself in Talisay and Tanauan Batangas. >.< Yes, I took the road with the scary zigzags.  And this is from the girl who's afraid of going to Antipolo. (Check out the words of caution in Club Balai Isabel's official website:  Please exercise caution: this is a steep road.  Club Balai Isabel is one of the resorts and establishments I passed by on my impromptu road trip)
  8. On the other hand, I finally found out what the "S" option is for on my gear shift. It helped me climb the zigzags and curves.
  9. Drove on a zigzag with heavy rain, a nervous passenger, and an even more nervous driver (that's me. My knuckles were white by the time I finally saw Tagaytay Rotonda)
  10. Finally, the first time I went to the beach with friends.
Obviously, I had the time of my life.  I am burned to a crisp and longing for a cold scrub, but I wanted to jot down these thoughts before I turn in for the night.  It was an exhilarating and refreshing experience. Best of all, I managed to bond with the people I trust and love.

Pawned!

My heart is broken. =c

Wordpress deactivated my blog because it apparently went against the site's terms and conditions.  What I did to deserve it, I do not know. But I am saddened that my personal blog was just cut off the cyberspace without even having the chance to explain my side. *cue sobs*

But life goes on, and on it will go.  Since there are many blogging sites to choose from, I opted to just create a new one.  Blogger is particularly handy because I use it frequently.  If I'm using it for work, then why not put it to use for my own?  And so--here I am! Once again taking up cyberspace with my mundane thoughts and ramblings.

Since this is my first post, I wanted it to kick ass and be awesome. But I kinda have to go and my friend is giving me the evil eye. So I'll just tell you a short story.

Yesterday I was afflicted with a terrible case of the weekendies--which is when I can write about anything other than work.  As I chose that day to write about my favorite books, I was in the zone and let my fingers catch up with the ramblings of my mind.  Then I looked at my monitor and saw that I wrote a story, one that is far from what I am supposed to be writing about.  Devastated because I cannot relate it to my current write-up for work, my friend urged me to just save it and work on it at home.

The crowd saw the handsome youth dance with an equally beautiful woman, kissing and caressing her back.  Beyond the glamour however, the young man was actually a demon with curled talons.  The demon slowly lowered his mouth and sucked the life out of the beautiful woman, as she fell on the floor, devoid of life.

Upon seeing her faint, the crowd of mundanes cheered, thinking that they witnessed a beautiful love story. Not one of them stopped to check her pulse, or wonder why her eyes are wide open in shock.
Oh boy, that's a bit morbid.  But I really have to go now, so, catch you later? I'll edit this later, or my friend the Grammar Nazi won't leave me alone.

Toodles ~
